OSCE Assembly in Tirana

The 100th anniversary of independence seems to be a good year for Albania’s international representation.

After receiving the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers at the Council of Europe, Albania will also host for the first time the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

This was declared by the Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, who is currently in Monaco together with an Albanian delegation. Topalli considered the Parliamentary Assembly in Tirana as a historical event for the Albanian Parliament.

“This is a very assembly for the Albanians, after our eforts and preparations for having the next session of the OSCE Assembly in Albania. The OSCE Assembly has never been held in Tirana. We have been working for months and finally I had the opportunity today to officially invite all OSCE members in Albania, from the Standing Committee”, Topalli declared.

Albania is a full OSCE member since 1991, but due to the elections, its name has been mentioned by the OSCE as a problematic country.

For the first time this year, Albania has the chance to improve its image, probably even the political image, in front of the delegations from Europe, Asia and the US.

For this reason, during the assembly in Monaco, the Albanian Parliament opened a special promotional stand where it presented the natural beauties of Albania.

“We have made all that we could for promoting the beauties of Albania, the potentials of our country and for inviting the delegations of the participating countries for recognizing Albania, the reality of our nation that is changing so fast, by making such a long road and becoming a NATO member”, the Parliament Speaker declared.
