Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future On the 9th year of the Beatification of Mother Teresa, the government
leaders inaugurated the reconstruction of the “Zyber Hallulli”
orphanage.
The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, declared that the building has had an essential reconstruction in its infrastructure, and is adapted to the format of a house for every child.
“We are inaugurating this house in a very special day for all Albanians, on which we honour the great decision of Pope John Paul Second for the Beatification of Mother Teresa, the Albanian that made a name for this country in the century that we live in”, Berisha declared.
In this building there are 28 children who will live divided in small groups, but they will share the kitchen, the playing rooms and bathrooms. The government leader declared that the government will work to rehabilitate other orphanages in Saranda, Berat and Tirana.
“I guarantee you that the government will make everything possible so that every orphanage will be modelled according to the best concepts. We will do everything possible so that the children who cannot live in their families will be able to find a second family in these homes that take care of them”, Berisha declared.
The civil society asked a review of the law that will allow the children to stay in residential institutions until they are 15.
“This is the law and we are implementing it, because it allows the orphans to get integrated in the Albanian life. We can discuss about a possible law amend with everyone who support the orphans”, declared Spiro Ksera, Minister of Labour.
Ksera accused the associations of not collaborating with the Ministry of Labor and declared that they are politically oriented, while the Ministry of Labor must make a full inspection in each of them.
