The head of the right-wing LZHK party, Dashamir Shehi, today rejected the invitation of the chief democrat Sali Berisha for an opposition coalition, stressing that the party he leads has a different approach to the fight against Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government.
During a press conference, Shehi stated that the opposition must unite around the common cause to defeat Rama, but this does not mean that every invitation must be accepted, especially from Berisha.
“We are here are all against Edi Rama. We think that this is the battle of the opposition, but we don’t think that if Berisha makes an invitation we should all rush after it,” said Shehi.
He added that LZHK will continue to follow an independent line to create another opposition grouping for the 2025 elections.
According to Shehi, if it was that easy, they would have joined forces with Berisha and “closed this story”.
He added that the ‘simple’ option of the coalition with Berisha is not enough to defeat Edi Rama. “To defeat Rama, we are trying to find another political trajectory,” he emphasized.
