At the meeting between the Council of Legislations and the Parliamentary Commission of Laws, the opposition demanded to discharge the Prosecutor General, Arta Marku, and start the procedures for appointing a new provisory prosecutor, based on the new law amends.
The amends propose that the Council of Prosecution continues the functions of the Temporary Prosecutor with collegial decisions, while the applications for the Prosecutor General should be collected by the Constitutional Court, not by the Parliament.
The final Prosecutor General should be appointed with 3/5th of the Parliament votes and that has been vetted.
For the vetting to be done, the opposition proposes for the five best candidates listed by the Constitutional Court to be verified with priority by the Special Commission of Qualification within 30 days.
If no Provisory Prosecutor can be chosen from this list with 84 votes, they will consider the one that the Constitutional Court has listed first.
