Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The meeting of the Socialist allies lasted around 90 minutes, in which
they revealed some of the points that will be brought in the dialogue
table with the majority.
“The electoral reform was one of the main topics that the opposition discussed today, and the opposition will present its platform for the concept of the electoral reform, which must extend in four main categories: the public and administrative guarantees, the infrastructural guarantees, regulations that must be made in the electoral code and in the improvement of the electoral system”, declared Skender Gjinushi, leader of the Social Democratic party.
Considering the Prime Minister as the man of big contradictions, the coalition leaders expressed their skepticism on the possibilities of reaching a compromise, which according to them would clearly reflect the failure to receive the EU candidate status.
“In 2009 you were suspicious when we said that there had been manipulations, and we asked to open the ballot boxes. 2011 proved to the entire world that the elections here are manipulated. Now he wants to have no guarantee for the next elections either. We’ll see how it goes, but you cannot enter the EU like this”, declared Spartak Ngjela, leader of the Party for Law and Justice.
The Socialists have offered the Prime Minister a pact with 10 points, which have been rejected by Berisha. It remains to be seen what will happen next, when the international pressure is constantly increasing.
