Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The recent government attack and the impartial violation of the
agreement with Top Channel was raised as an issue in the Albanian
Parliament, during the presentation of the annual report of the National
Radio and Television Council, before the Media Commission MPs.
MP Alfred Dalipi reiterated that NCRT was biased with Top Channel’s contract violation case, by favouring the government.
“NCRT has the documentation for logistics and everything that Top Channel owns, as an operator. This was an opportunity to react with the government and preserve independence as an authority that comes out of the Parliament and not the government”, declared the Socialist MP, Alfred Dalipi.
Valentina Leskaj, Chairwoman of the media Commission, declared that the entire report shows a constant failure of the NCRT, as regards political partiality, the public advertisement issue, the discrimination of TVs and the failure to respect the human and children’s rights.
The vice chairman of this commission, Mark Marku, declared that NCRT must strengthen its position during the elections, and asked the opposition to not boycott the NCRT.
Valentina Leskaj answered that boycott doesn’t give them the right to violate the law and make a politicized NCRT, with a biased behaviour towards operators.
Although NCRT has given 21 million ALL ini fines, only 2.5 million have been collected. NCRT Chairwoman says that the tax directory doesn’t cooperate.
