Opposition leader: “Two issues divide us from consensus”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, sees the declaration of Edi
Rama for consensus as a positive signal, however, he said, he cannot be
trusted a priori, insisting that the DP sits in the negotiations table
with the will to find a solution.

Basha said the parties have not yet agreed for two points, both regarding the role of the international partners in the vetting process.

“The government proposed article 123 of the Constitution as a way for authorizing international missions, which we considered acceptable”, Basha said about the article that delegates international organizations state-level competences for specific issues.

The second issue they haven’t agree with yet is the stationing of the international mission. “The second problem is the proposition that the international operation should be located at the President or Ombudsman, and, based on the criteria, they could approve a white list with the candidates who fulfill the acceptance criteria, another green list for those who don’t fulfill every criteria, and also a black list”, he said.
