Opposition leader on Albania’s Liberation Day: November 28, 1944 marked the liberation from a foreign occupation and its replacement with a double one

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has commented on the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Albania through an article on his website.

He questions whether the Albanians were truly liberated on that date, or whether this triumph was replaced with a ‘double occupation’, another foreign occupation and also an internal one.

“November 28, 1944 is not only Independence Day, but is also celebrated as the Liberation Day in Albania. Although today the descendants of the Stalinist dictator continue to celebrate Liberation Day according to the Enverist-Serbian rite on November 29, that is, on the date falsified by Enver Hoxha on the orders from Belgrade, even after celebrating this holiday on November 28 for the first two years.”

“The importance of this position lies in the fact that the communist dictator Enver Hoxha falsified this date as well, to unite this holiday, not with our Liberation Day, but with the national holiday of the then Federation of Yugoslavia, with the day of the proclamation in Jajce, on November 29, 1943.

“He falsified the date of Liberation so that, with the plan of unification of Albania as the 7th republic with the Federation of Yugoslavia, Albanians would also celebrate on November 29, together with the other republics.

“However, unfortunately, to this day, there are Albanian speakers who, in the example of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Serbian serf, or the mayor of Tirana, continue to have Belgrade as their ‘Mecca’. In this note, I will dwell on another fundamental aspect of this date, on the most undeniable historical truth, that November 28, 1944 marked not only the liberation from a foreign occupation, but also the replacement of that occupation with a double occupation, another foreign occupation and an internal occupation, like never before.

“This is because an Albanian-Serbian clique sat on the throne of power in Tirana, with the main Project, the disappearance of the independent state of Albanians.

“Today, historians and researchers, local and foreign, with their serious and numerous publications, based on thousands of documents from the country’s archives, those of the Allies of the war and other countries, have rewritten history in the light of undeniable historical truths. They, with their extremely important works, have melted the mountain of falsifications of Hoxha’s historiography. Therefore, today, based on historical scientific truths, it is time for deep reflection by every Albanian, wherever they live, about our history as a whole, and in this specific case, also about this date,” Berisha wrote, among other things.
