The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Agron Gjekmarkaj during the meeting with DP supporters in Berat in south-central Albania, said the opposition is the only one that can stop the Albanian citizens leaving their country.
“We are not allowed to sit aside and appear inactive in the face of political developments in the country! Indifference is not an ally but an enemy of every aspiration. Albania is not governed but ruled! Albania has not been administered for 12 years but has been corrupted and stolen”, Gjekmarkaj said, adding that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who has been placed under house arrest for property corruption, is being kept in political isolation on purpose by the government.
He further denounced what he called “the concentration of power in a pyramidal manner only on one man and what remains with his servants”, while also mentioning the corruption scandals of the theft of public money in tenders with incinerators, with the sterilization of health equipment, which according to his pensions and salaries are left in a miserable state.
Gjekmarakaj said that PD can stop the deserting of Albania by its citizens and the transformation of its democracy into autocracy, but provided no details nor a strategy for his promises.
