The Democratic Party has joined today the protest of the food traders in Belsh in central Albania, who demand their right after the Municipality has moved the food market from the city center.
Deputy DP Ervin Salianji, as the political leader of Elbasan District for the upcoming elections, expressed his support saying that ‘DP will be by their side’.
Speaking next to the protesters, Salianji warned of temporary blocking of the road if the problem is not resolved.
“In support of the merchants and residents of Belshi in their legitimate protest, there will be a temporary blockade of the road as a warning of escalation if the problem is not resolved,” said Salianji.
Furthermore, the MP added: “After the SP got the vote, considering them ‘put in their pocket’, the government decides to put hundreds of small traders and farmers in Belsh on the streets, forcefully removing them from their traditional market where they have been working since 32 years.
“Through a clientelistic decision-making, they have chosen to waste money by investing in an empty area to empower their two entrepreneurs due to clientelistic political connections. As in any case, SP steals by abusing an unnecessary investment and empowers two government-related businesses, supposedly for the new market!
“I want to make it clear that we will be on the side of the residents by escalating their legitimate protests and reject the ban on selling the products of farmers in the area,” wrote Salianji in a reaction on social networks.
