This electoral campaign has been unusual for the Democrats this time, as they compete divided into two factions.
This is because part of them support the “Bashke Fitojme” coalition, where former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has made an alliance with former President Ilir Meta, while the other part supports the DP who was granted the logo and the official seal of the Democratic Party, led by to Enkelejd Alibeaj.
The closing rally of the “Bashke Fitojme” coalition campaign took place tonight in Mother Teresa Square.
Unlike what they did at the beginning of this campaign, where the opening rally was held at the “Air Albania” stadium, Meta and Berisha have thought of reducing costs by gathering in the square a few meters away, where the two leaders of the coalition have the main weight of speech.
On the other hand, the official DP, rarely in three decades, has decided not to hold a closing rally in the square, but to hold a closed gathering in a hotel hall.
Berisha and Meta compete in 61 municipalities, while the official PD has only 14 candidates in the race.
