The leaders of Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia said today at the “Open Balkan” conference in Belgrade that this initiative aims to facilitate the movement of citizens and goods in the region.

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama said that January will be the month when the concrete steps of the Open Balkans initiative will be seen.

“The whole focus has been on the people, the companies, the farmers, the workers, the academics, the students, who are the real beneficiaries of the Open Balkans. Products can not stay at the border for days, or wait for confirmation from agencies of other countries. The results will be presented in Tirana at the next meeting in December and there will be benefits for the six countries of the region. From January, relaxation begins at the border”, said Albanian PM Rama.

While the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuçic stated that the main entrepreneurs of the three countries, part of the Open Balkans initiative, are the main supporters of such an initiative.

He said that in December at the Tirana Summit a memorandum for the reciprocal work permits will be signed for the three countries part of the “Open Balkan”.

“We have to fly because we are behind the developed European countries, there will be a big improvement. We have big delays that we will try to resolve, including reciprocity for the purchase of real estate,” said Vucic, among other things.
