Martin Bardhi was executed this morning in his bar in the center of Rrëshen in northeastern Albania, while the perpetrators injured three other people in the bar, who are reported to be in a serious state of health.
Indrit Bardhi, Olti Gjini and Ilir Bardhoku were urgently sent to the Trauma Hospital in the capital Tirana after they were sitting in a bar-cafe at the moment of the serious attack.
In the meantime, the police continue to search for the perpetrators, as in the village of Gziq in Mirdita, an off-road vehicle, suspected to have been used by them, was found burning.
Revenge is the main track of the investigation into the murder of the 59-year-old as eight months ago, the victim committed an attempted assassination against Saimir Reçi, the nephew of Kastriot Reçi, the latter executed in 2020.
The murder of Martin Bardhi in Rrëshen was on the verge of a massacre, since three other citizens were injured who were apparently not related to the event but were sitting in the victim’s bar.
It is suspected that the 59-year-old and the perpetrators have previously had a conflict with each other and the fight has degraded into the use of weapons. The attackers then left in a black SUV.
In March of this year, along with his son, Erind Bardhi, Martini fired against the vehicle of citizen Saimir Reçi, the nephew of Kastriot Reçi, who was executed in 2020. Saimir Reçi managed to escape the assassination attempt, while Bardhi was later arrested.
Just a few days ago, the victim was released from prison. There have been constant conflicts between the Reçi and Bardhaj family members and it is suspected that even today’s murder is related to the clash between the two tribes.
