Ombudsman to Justice Minister: “Special Institutions for convicts with mental problems, not prison”

The Ombudsman recommended the Minister of Justice to find a legal
solution for people with mental illnesses who are being kept in prisons.

“These people should be treated by specialized facilities depending from the Health Ministry”, the Ombudsman said.

He recommended the Justice Minister to find a solution, a specialized medical institution for people suffering from neuropsychological issues.
