Ombudsman, agreement with NGOs

Ombudsman Igli Totozani has signed a cooperation agreement with
representatives of the civil society, aiming to reinforce the policies
for protecting the human rights.

“We can act with solidarity among each other and the citizens, for being the voice of the citizens who do not have voice, because what we want to achieve would be impossible without this alliance that we will have. The gratitude to the EU, USA, OSCE and the Council of Europe, which have always been close to is in these stories of progress for our society, which today records an important moment of maturity and awareness”, Totozani declared.

The EU Ambassador, Ettore Sequi, emphasized the human right protection as one of the 12 key priorities of the EU integration.

“We trust that a strong role of the civil society is a precondition for the enlargement process, because these are essential steps for helping and promoting some basic principles of democracy, good governing and the rule of law. We believe that all Ombudsman recommendations will be followed by the public administration for restoring the violated rights without further delay”, Sequi declared.

The OSCE Ambassador, Eugen Wollfarth, valued the Ombudsman’s institution as a mechanism for preventing torture.

“Working closely with the civil society will reinforce the efficiency of this mechanism through exchanging information and experience”, Wolfarth declared.

The US vice ambassador, Deborah Jones, expressed her readiness to support the Human Right Protection Commission.

USA has a long commitment story in the war for protecting the human rights and equality for everyone. The US embassy will continue to work for pushing forward the human right’s protection, working with the Human Right Commission and other organizations”, Jones declared.

The agreement that the Ombudsman signed with dozens of civil society organization provides legal common actions, information exchange and coordination for reporting the human right violations.
