Luiza Gega had a disappointed performance in her 3000 meters steeplechase in the Rio Olympics this Saturday, even though having high hopes qualifying for the final race scheduled for August 15.
The 27 year old finished her race on 9:58.49, about 30 seconds more than the time she was proclaimed vice champion of Europe just two months ago. Since the beginning Gega seemed unable to conduct a proper race, as the injury she announced made its stance.
Every meter passing the difference with other athletes increased with Gega finishing 16th out of 18 racers, 41 seconds later than first place Cepkoec from Kenya.
