Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Democratic Party MP, Sokol Olldashi, valued the priorities presented
by the newly elected President, Bujar Nishani, in his oath speech as
President.
Olldashi, a close friend to Nishani, declared for Top Channel that he had great expectations for the new President.
“I believe that Mr. Nishani will be a very good president. His speech showed the priorities of his presidency, which, on my opinion, were very good”, Olldashi declared.
The Minister of Transports valued Nishani’s commitment in the justice system and for reinforcing its independence, while he refused to make any comments about Topi’s presidency.
“My opinion for President Topi is well known and there’s no need for me to comment it. I will comment the priorities of Mr. Nishani and I think that they are very well planned. I am convinced that he will follow them very closely”, Olldashi declared.
Majko: I hope that Nishani will keep his word
The Socialist MP, Pandeli Majko, declared that he hope that Nishani will keep the word that he gave regarding the position-opposition relations.
“Today is a day that should not be spoken with opposition words. I hope that Nishani will be a bridge for the relations between the majority and the opposition, if he will be able”, Majko declared.
However, the former Prime Minister expressed his reserves regarding Nishani’s first speech during the oath, saying that it lacked of patriotic elements.
“His speech didn’t speak about the Albanians of Kosovo and Macedonia. However, I hope that this will be his first speech. I think that he will keep these things in mind in teh future”, Majko declared.
By commenting the role of the President, Majko expressed his views regarding the political conflicts between the government and the former President, which started with the Constitution.
“The government enters in conflict with the presidency because the Constitution, although it is about a presidential republic, it has a parliamentary system. The president is a central figure and the Constitution has this. The president should be a referee, and if he will be a good one, this remains to be seen”, Majko declared.
