Oketa: With SMI we lost bigger cities

25/11/2011 00:00

The Democratic Party MP, Gazmend Oketa, declared that the coalition
between the Democratic Party and the Socialist Movement for Integration
has not brought any electoral benefit for the Democrats. In an interview
for Shqip, Oketa underlines that the Democratic Party received less
votes in the local elections of 2011, and SMI had an increase. It means
that DP paid the cost of this alliance. He also added that despite the
alliance with SMI, DP was unable to win the major cities.

Oketa admits that he will vote in favor of Bujar Leskaj as head of the Supreme State Audit, and he expressed his security that it will also be supported by other Democratic Group MPs.

As for the relations Berisha-Topi, Oketa says that the conflict between the two leaders of the Albanian state is not personal, but institutional, and time will show how it will go on.

Oketa underlines that the seriousness of the current consensus between the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party remains to be seen, and that the passing of the Electoral Code will be an important challenge for both parties.
