Oil prices make farmers use ploughing animals

Many farmers throughout the Korce district have returned using their animals to plough, since the oil price for tractors is unaffordable for their economy.

This farming chore used to be finalized with motorized vehicles, but with the oil prices reaching the ceilings, they have been obliged to challenge the era we’re living in and returned to primitive tools.

The expensive oil prices have made tractors an unaffordable luxury, since besides the hard work on their lands, farmers don’t have a market for securing good revenues and this expense would be a very heavy burden.

Diber, farmers plough with animals

High costs for modern plough methods have obliged Diber farmers to return to medieval instruments too for their lands.

Erebare villagers in Maqellara plough their lands with horses, since the cost of hiring modern equipments is higher than the turnover.

The lack of infrastructure and of support to farmer has brought grave consequences for the domestic producers. They work in small limited areas and use primitive tools to reduce costs.
