The Competition Authority tried to investigate the sale of the fuel
concession, but the GFI company, registered in a fiscal paradise,
refused to give information.

“We asked for information. We referred to the Swiss authorities for evidence regarding the turnover of these firms. These are offshore firms and we cannot take any information about their turnover”, said the Chief of the Competition Authority, Lindita Lati, during the report of the Commission of Economy.

But the fuel marking is not the only concession that has changed owner during the past months.

“The concern is getting deeper. Bankers is also queued. This has happened twice. Another company now. There are so many of them for just one fuel agreement. The airport agreement is about to be signed. You need a new plan for investigating the others”, declared the Chairman of the Commission, Erjon Brace.

The Chairwoman of the Competition Authority said there is only one way to check these concessions.

“The only instrument is that the concessionary agreement should be clear that when the concessionary package is changed, there should be an authorization from the Authority that issues the concession. As result, this brings another instrument a the Competition Authority”, Lati said.

The name of GFI was made public yesterday after the “Panama Papers” scandal. The company received the concession in May 2013 and last year was sold to Petrolium Consulting.
