Salty fuel prices seem to be leading the Albanian State Police to a crisis, as with an internal order of the director general, they will patrol with 60% less fuel from November.
Top Channel has obtained the letter addressed to the local directorates where it is stated that the reduction is due to “unfinished procedures” and “the shifting of the price of fuel in the stock market”.
Each local directorate is left to draw up the patrol movement plan without exceeding the 60% reduction rate.
Sources said that the reductions in fuel available to local directorates and police stations started in April this year, and from month to month the amount has decreased.
From about 2 thousand liters of fuel per month, now the police stations receive only 400. This reduction has consequences in the normal functioning of the work, since under these conditions the police find it impossible to check the areas they cover.
The crisis with the price of fuel is being kept at high levels in Albania, even though the prices have decreased in the stock market. The reductions imposed on the State Police come at a time when officers salaries are low and this does not help the security in the country.
