Thomas Rymer, spokesperson for the OSCE/ODIHR in Warsaw, declared in a
phone conversation for Top Channel that they are not against the
electronic ballot count propositions.

The ODIHR experts in Tirana have recommended to the Electoral Reform Parliamentary Commission that the usage of technology in the elections of 2013 should start as a pilot project. According to Thomas Rymer, this process must start gradually and that it should guarantee quality and democratic standards.

Rymer gave this answer when he was asked why the ODIHR experts in Tirana were against the electronic ballot count, if we are dealing a personal stance of the experts that arrived in Tirana or if it is official.

“The question is not about if it should be used or not. In the meeting with the experts, same as in the meeting that was held on March for the usage of technology, this is exactly what we have declared and it is unchanged”, Rymer declared.

The OSCE-ODIHR spokesperson rejected the accusations of Skender Gjinushi and Paskal Milo, the leaders of the Albanian left small parties, that the OSCE-ODIHR office is serving to Prime Minister Berisha.

“What has been done in Albania so far, and what we will be doing in the future, during the meeting that we have had, is in full accordance with the OSCE/ODIHR mandate”, Rymer underlined.
