Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

Congratulations on your appointment as Prime Minister of Albania. I look
forward to working with you to address the issues and challenges in today’s world.

As allies and friends, the United States and Albania have established a
partnership based on shared interests. We appreciate Albania’s commitment to our
common efforts in Afghanistan and Syria, as well as Albania’s role in maintaining
stability in the Balkans.

I know that as Prime Minister you will work constructively with all political
parties to consolidate democratic and economic reforms and move Albania closer to
realizing its aspiration of joining the European Union. You have our continued
support in this effort.

Please accept my best wishes as you take up your new responsibilities. Under
your leadership, I hope our two countries can further deepen our strong partnership.
Sincerely,

Barack Obama
