Obama congratulates Albania for independence

“Our alliance with Albania is strong and stable. The United States of America remain dedicated to help Albania in consolidating the democratic institutions and undertake the reforms that are necessary to reach its full integration in the Euro-Atlantic community”, Obama’s message stated.

The Head of the White House underlined the constant support of Albania to the NATO mission in Afghanistan, and also the support that Albania is giving to the stability in Western Balkans.

“The close connection between our two countries started with the arrival of the first emigrants in the USA. This connection grew stronger with the decisive intervention of President Wilson at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, and continued to flourish during the last two decades, after the reestablishment of democracy in Albania”.

“The historical speech of the US State Secretary Hillary Clinton in the Albanian Parliament marked another milestone in our relations. In this day of celebration, the American people joins Albania and wishes the best to your future efforts for building a democratic and prosperous Albania”, the US President declares.
