The border checkpoints between Greece and Albania have returned to
normality, regardless of the large numbers of people crossing the
border, mainly Albanian citizens on both sides.
The Greek side continued processing the movement of the Albanian vehicles normally and the passing of emigrants with fewer numbers than on the Albanian side. 2500 people entered Albania until 12:00, and 3700 others entered Greece.
The movement in Kakavija was slower. 1890 people have entered and 1830 have left Albania. The reason why the number was lower here is that most of the people in this area prefer to cross the border later the day.
In all border checkpoints there have been people who have returned, but nothing that has to do with rejections about the missing amount of money or booking tickets, as it happened yesterday and turned the Albanian customs into chaos.
The returns were mostly about violations of the Schengen area rules. Regional directors of the border in Gjirokaster and Korce met with their homologues in the Greek border and clarified everything about what happened yesterday. The Albanian police is still requesting the Greek citizens to fulfill the required conditions before entering Albania.
