Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Hundreds of citizens and representatives of the Party for Justice,
Integration and Unity (PJIU) protested in front of the Greek Consulate
in Korca, asking for the Consul Ikonomus to never turn back in Albania.
The PJIU leader, Shpetim Idrizi, declared that many citizens have been obliged to photocopy the Census and hand it over to the Greek consulate, in order to prove the nationality they had declared.
“The news that some Korce Citizens were asked to present the photocopies of the registration forms in the Consulate is a clear evidence that the Census law is being infringed”, Idrizi declared.
The PJIU leader held a long speech about the role of the Greek Consul, Teodoro Ikonomus, who has been staying in Korce although this mandate is over.
“He stayed on duty although the Albanian state asked him to leave. This man that should be boycotted, is still in the same role. This man is not there for improving the relations between the Albanian and the Greeks”, declared the PJIU leader.
Idrizi explained that the amends approved in the Parliament for the population registration require that the data regarding the religion and ethnicity will be compared with the data of the Civil Registrar.
