No rains during December

2011 has marked one of the biggest droughts in the last 50 years. The
professors of the Environment and Climate department show that based on
the measurements made in October and November, the rainfalls during 2011
are 60% to 70% lower than during the same time of one year ago, when
many cities were flooded.

“November 2011 had 60 times less rains than the same month of 2010. This contrast, is a new extremity”, says prof. Petrit Zorba, representative of the Environment and Climate Department.

Experts predictions suggest that the drought will continue during December. This will cause problems with the production of the electric power, and for this reason, the energy should be managed better and there losses should be eliminated.

“The lost energy coefficient in Germany is 4.8%, in Italy 7 and in Albania it continues to be 38-40%, when in the past it was 40-50%. There is so much that we can improve by implementing new technologies or through good management”, Zorba clarified.

Experts predict that December rains will fall only on December 6th.
