Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
This year, the festive atmosphere will be felt only with those who are
able to spend more money or that have taken gifts or bonuses.
But the categories in need, such as pensioners and disabled people, will receive no bonuses this year, or a 13th salary, as in other countries of the world.
Those who will have relatives in good economic conditions will be able to think about celebrating and making gifts, and also for pleading the people around.
This year, the persons with limited abilities and labor invalids, the ones who have suffered accidents at work, will not receive the usual bonus for the winter holidays.
The Ministry of Finances declared that they are facing difficult times. This will make the person with disabilities to pass the Christmas and New Year’s Day as any other day.
The pensioners will have the same fate. If their pension wasn’t small enough and the energy bills big enough for them, now they have to decide if they will cook something nice for the New Year’s day or if they will buy their daily medicaments.
Besides not receiving bonuses, the people with disabilities have another problem. Some weeks ago they made public a scandal with the list of people who are registered as disabled for profiting from the lower energy price.
