Nishani meets Meta, Rama and Basha

The first guest of the President was Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, who said that the President showed him the procedure he had followed to realize his Constitutional duty in a transparent process, proposing a new name.

“The president is open to cooperate for resolving this issue as soon as possible”, Meta declared.

When asked if they discussed any concrete name for the Governor of Albania, Meta declared:

“We spoke about the process and about the importance of finding a name. We will cooperate for this name to guarantee the professionalism and the independence of this institution”, Meta declared.

The president met with the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who gave no comment.

The opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, was the last one to leave the meeting with the President.

No new names were proposed for the vacancies of the Bank of Albanian Supervisory Council. One of them is proposed by the government, two by the Parliament and one from the Council. Article 161 of the Constitution for the Bank of Albania says that the Governor is elected by the Parliament by proposition of the President, with a 7-year mandate”.
