The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, and the Albanian Prime Minister,
Edi Rama, have arrived in the United States in two different delegations
but that will be together during the entire “Clinton 2013 Global
Initiative” held in New York from 23 to 26 September.
They have been invited by the United States President, Bill Clinton, to participate in this annual activity in which are invited personalities from all over the world. This is the first meeting of the Albanian President and the new Prime Minister after the oath ceremony held one week ago, and after Rama’s decision to remove the president’s photograph from the institutions and replace him with Ismail Qemali, and action that Nishani didn’t welcome.
The Prime Minister’s agenda foresees the meeting with the World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim; the former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair; and a lecture in the World Leaders Forum at the Columbia University. Rama will also participate in the 68th session of the General Assembly of the UN, and will hold a speech in the general debate of this session.
During his visit in New York, the government leader will attend several billateral meetings with representatives of different states, with the General Secretary of the UN, Ban Ki Moon, and he will attend the reception organized by the United States president, Barack Obama.
Accompanied by the Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, the Prime Minister will attend meetings with the Albanian community in New York and the National American-Albanian Council and the Albanian-American Chamber of Commerce.
President Nishani’s agenda includes some important meetings with United States representatives and the Albanian community in Boston, Detroit and New York.
