The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, has considered as unprecedented
the decision of the Rama government to replace his photograph with that
of Ismail Qemali.
“It is never heard before that a Prime Minister starts his work by removing the photo of his own president. This should not happen, because it is not serious. It is not work, but just a gesture and as such doesn’t need any commitment. It doesn’t need hard work, fantasy or intelligence. The President expects the Prime Minister to do work, not gestures”, Nishani declared.
But the Parliament Speaker rejected the accusations by reminding Nishani that this has been done first by Jozefina Topalli, when she had a conflict with Bamir Topi. His photographs were suddenly removed from the rooms of the Parliamentary Commissions, which means that the Head of State must look elsewhere for the responsibility.
“I cannot remove the President’s photograph from the Parliament’s Speaker offices because I did not find the president’s photograph. But we will place the photograph in respect of what the Parliament represents and what the President represents in the Constitution, as we will place the photograph of Ismail Qemali everywhere, as the father of our state”, Meta declared.
On January 2010, Top Channel brought images how the Parliamentary Commissions that used to have the photograph of Bamir Topi in their offices, suddenly remained with empty walls.
