More than 800 news portals are operating in Albania, the vast majority of which are not registered.
This has prompted the government to draft a new law on online media, which posts a large number of fake news.
The law aims to bring anonymity to an end for the news portals. They will be forced to declare their financial sources and also their staff.
This competence will be added to the Audiovisual Media Authority, according to the draft law, a copy of which has also been obtained by Top Channel.
The websites will now publish their addresses, the name of the business holder, etc.
Any Albanian citizen or foreigner who will feel attacked by any publication from these portals will be allowed to file a complaint at the AMA, and there will be fines for fake news.
