Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future According to the new urban plan, Tirana will not have only one center,
but seven other suburban ones. Planned for a population up to 1.3
million residents, it is expected to have five road rings and three
other parks in Paskuqan, Sauk and Farka, besides the Lake and the Dajti
Park.
The new Urban Plan predicts a polycentric Tirana, where the southern pole that belongs tot he Students Town, besides the education, will be enriched with other functions. The pole at the Artificial lake will be expanded and remain for recreation purposes.
The former aviation field will gave more businesses, while in the Kombinat Area will be the Olympic Tirana, with sportive functions.
During the presentation, the Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha, declared that they kept their promise and prepared the regulation plan within 10 months.
“Tirana has given its signs of being tired with blocked projects for several years, due to a blocking politics and not friendly with the businesses and citizens. We hope that one of our instruments for overcoming this stalemate and catalyze the investments with their diversity in the city and the region will be based on this vision that we are unfolding today. The lack of planning has deepened the unequal development. We are witnesses of a failed model that has made some properties gain too much value, through a selective planning process, and some others to lose its value for the same reason. This practice is over”, declared the Mayor of Tirana, Lulzim Basha.
The general urban plan sets the rules of how Tirana will be developed in the years to come, by setting the areas where there will be constructions and the distance between the objects.
Residents protest for lack of running water
While the Mayor was presenting the general urban plan, the Shkoze residents protested for the lack of drinking water, complaining that they haven’t had water supply for the last 10 months, while they have paid it regularly.
The leader of the Socialist councilors at the Tirana Municipality, Aldrin Dalipi, heard their complaints and promised that he will raise their concern at the next Municipal Council meeting.
“I have the obligation to appeal today the Mayor of Tirana to come and resolve this problem, to leave the showrooms and plans, and return to the citizens the services for which they pay their taxes”, Mr. Dalipi declared.
