Farmers oppose the new scheme proposed by the Albanian government for giving subventions for the product.
“This will give nothing to farmers. Farmers are not registered, they don’t have a registration number, and cannot profit anything”, declared Enver Ferizaj, from the Albanian Council of Agrobusiness.
Grants given for farmers in agriculture reach 10 million EUR, which, according to the Albanian Council of Agro-Culture, is much lower compared to the other countries of the region.
Before the budget is passed, farmers want a fund 10 times bigger, and the gas without excise, as promised by the government, to be subventioned in cash.
“We declared that the oil without excise should be given cash. Every farmer should receive money, not coupons, because there is a higher cost and abuses”, Ferizaj declared.
To increase agricultural cooperation, farmers want financing with 3-5 million ALL for every farm.
