The new parliamentary opposition does not agree with the recent proposition of PM Edi Rama to advance with the electoral code amends.
“There’s an important point, the vote of immigrants. We don’t need to rush. The OSCE recommendations are more urgent, for opening the EU accession negotiations”, said Rama for Repolitics.
The Prime Minister also said that the discussions regarding the system will take place in a second phase.
Top Channel’s journalist, Muhamed Veliu, interviewed Ralf Gjoni from the independent parliamentary group, who declared that the Prime Minister spoke about two phases which cannot take place without their Parliamentary vote.
“We have been clear that the electoral reform should be comprehensive and that affects every link of the system. One of the technical links of the electoral code are the OSCE/ODIHR recommendations, which we must review at the Special Parliamentary Commisison. Besides that, we also need to amend the law for political parties and the Constitution part regarding the electoral system, because this is our cause in the parliament and we will stand by it till the end”, Gjoni declared.
Gjoni declared that as regards the preparation of the amendments, the new opposition is working within the Parliamentary groups and also with members of the civilian society outside the parliament.
“A draft-proposition will be brought soon at the judiciary reform commission in Parliament. We will discuss about what the SP is ready to accept. I appeal the parties outside the parliament to attend this meeting, because their absence could lead to their exclusion from the system, and the electoral reform would be done within this Parliament and without them”, Gjoni declared.
