Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future A pavilion dedicated to communist terror and dictatorship was
inaugurated today at the Albanian National Museum of History, for the
21st anniversary of the toppling of Enver Hoxha’s statue.
Present in this ceremony were politicians, former politically persecuted people and relatives of the communist regime victims.
“The pavilion is new. With the years and the necessary documents, we will rebuild it”, declared Enver Kushi, organizer of the pavilion.
PM Berisha declared that Albania passed a dark period in its history.
“The history of dictatorship is the most painful, tragic and undeserved”, he declared.
“The pavilion shows with facts that Albania was a country which lived with terror under Enver Hoxha’s regime”, declared Luan Malltezi, director of the National Museum of History.
In the pavilion there are objects donated by the victims’ family members, torture equipments and an improvised cell, that bring to the public the painful reality of the 50 year old regime.
The Minister of Culture, Aldo Bumci, declared that they are working for opening two special museums, one in Shkoder and another at the Spac prison, dedicated to the dark period of communism.
