The Parliamentary Commission for the Economy discussed the amends proposed by the Ministry of Economy and that of the Finances for the new
Customs Code.
The preliminary amends started two months ago, when the Minister of Finances presented the new project, in presence of European Commission officials.
The new variant, to which “Shqip” newspaper is referred, provides that Minister Bode will have no more competences for releasing Customs Agents licenses. This competence passed to the National Center of Licenses.
The opposition members of the Commission asked for more time to review the new variants.
“We are not against, in principle, but we want the code amends to come all at once, not one after another. If you say that the entire code will change, let us review the entire code with the needed seriousness and care”, declared Mimi Kodheli, Vice Chair of the Commission.
Spaho asked the MPs understanding for passing the code, as the start of the necessary reforms for the country’s economy.
If the government wants to approve the Customs Code, they will need the opposition votes for the qualified majority.
