New 220 KW line inaugurated

In the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Berisha declared that this line not only will provide electricity to most of the Albanian population, as an important strategic line, but it helps his government’s main priority for turning Albanian into a developed country.

“The construction and reconstruction of an energy infrastructure makes the basic condition for the support, vitalization and development of the Albanian economy and its development in general. These investments are vital for the fact that a new energy source is added each month to the energy transmission network. We have build and reconstructed 46 hydropower plants in a very short period of time, while 100 others are under construction, and hundred others are waiting to start the work. Only the ones that have completed have doubled Albania’s production”, Berisha declared.

Berisha considered as blindness and political envy the opposition’s critics for the way how the government is developing the energy sector, and how the hydropower plant concessions are being managed. For Berisha, these are success stories for the country.

“We will continue our work, because we don’t want our water resources to pour idly to the sea, but that they can return into a valuable energy for the citizens. We are doing this because we want our children to have the lowest possible energy cost, since the renewable energy will still be the cheapest alternative for the years to come”, Berisha declared.

240 million EUR have been invested in the two last years, while the total investments from 2005, according to PM Berisha, reach half a billion EUR, coming next to the investments on road infrastructure. In a near future, Berisha foresees that the investments in energy will be the most important ones.
