Different from the past December, when Netherlands was looking for
allies within the European Union to postpone the candidate status for
Albania, the decision of this year supports the recommendation of the
European Commission, which said “yes” to Albania’s status without
hesitatin.
The Dutch government, in a letter secured by Top Channel and that has been sent to the Parliament – which will hold a session in the next days to ratify the position with Albania – says that they support the report of the European Commission for our country.
“Based on the strict and righteous approach, the government shares the Commission’s opinion, saying that Albania has answered to the appeal that the Council made in December 2013. The government notes that in December 2013, a majority of member countries supported the candidate status”, the letter says.
The Dutch government, through this letter of their foreign Minister, have prepared for their Parliament the findings of the European Commission over Albania, underlining that during the reporting period, Albania has shown tangible results and political will for implementing the law, especially in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
The Dutch government encourages the continuity of these reforms, saying that they are on the right track. Same as the Commission, this country also values that the start of the negotiations is still far.
“Albania must keep showing evience and stable reforms in the future years. The reforms and their implementation will be monitored very closely. This message was given very clearly to Mr.Rama, who visited Netherlands on May 26th and talked with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. During this visit, the Dutch government has welcomed the clear agenda of reforms of the Albanian government and the concrete steps taken for implementing it. This message was coordinated through some member countries, and was given to the Albanian Prime Minister”, the letter says.
Slovenia: We have supported enlargement
Bushati in Lubjana: We want to advance in the EU
A few days from the decision of the European Council for the status of Albania, our diplomacy continued the intensive communication with the member countries.
Slovenia reconfirmed their position in favor of Albania in their EU advance.
“Slovenia has been and will always be a strong supporter of the enlargement process with the Werstern Balkan, especially Albania”, declared the Deputy Prime Minister and also Foreign Minister of Slovenia in a meeting with the Albanian counterpart, Bushati.
The Slovenian support comes only a few days after the visit of the Austrian Head of Diplomacy, country that this time is lobbying very strongly about Albania.
