Central government and representatives of the Greek minority parties met
today in Vlore, discussing the urban qualification of te small coastal
town.
The central government was represented by the Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri; the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro; while the Greek minority had the leader of Omonia, Vasil Bollano; former candidate Fredi Bejleri. Present was also the Mayor Jorgo Goro and several Himara residents.
The discussion continued for more than one hour. A second meeting was decided for next Friday. After the session, which was held behind closed doors, Minister Gjiknuri said that they are finding common ground.
“Next week there will be another meeting in which we are going to clarify the people involved how the project will be implemented”, Gjiknuri declared.
In this meeting they discussed about a rightful compensation, while Mayor Goro said that everything is happening due to political interventions.
Goro’s former rival, Fredi Bejleri, said that the dialogue is undergoing and next Friday they will meet with the Himara residents who are affected by the project.
The talks for finding a solution came after a meeting between the Foreign Minister of Albania and Greece.
