Negative and offensive campaign banners

An offensive banner against one of the candidates for the Çerma commune, Lushnje district, spurred controversy between electoral headquarters.

The Socialist candidate declared that he is revolted about the offensive banner that the Socialsit Movement for Integration (SMI) rival has used against him.

“As you see, there is the logo of our coalition and that of the Socialist Party. This is an offence to me personally and to all Socialist Party. They are pressuring people with all means, even though they have SP in their hearts”, says Eltinor Mahmutaj, Socialist Party candidate in Çerma.

His SMI rival, who is demanding his third mandate on the commune, defended the banner.

“This banner is not offensive. We are on an election campaign and if this banner has been placed respecting the law, there should be no problem”, says Astrit Dervishi, SMI candidate in Çerma.

This confrontation was not welcomed by the residents, who seek a clean competition and without incidents.
