The Foreign Ministers of NATO gathered in Brussels in “a critical
moment”, as it was described by the General Secretary, Rasmussen,
referring to the decisions about the collective defense and the action
plan for the Wales summit.
The Foreign Minister of Albania, Ditmir Bushati, explained that the decisions are related to the additional measures that are needed for helping Ukraine in its defense sector; the package for approaching Georgia, the relations with Russia and Afghanistan, and the enlargement with Montenegro.
“We reached a compromise for making an evaluation to Montenegro, until the end of the next year, about the reforms that this country needs for the accession”, Bushati declared.
The NATO Ministerial was a good opportunity for the Albanian Minister to meet with his European counterparts after the decision in Luxembourg for the candidate status, which enters in act officially this Friday.
“I hope that the atmosphere and the optimism created in this country will be translated with responsibility by the political actors, in a climate of cooperation, and first of all in Parliament, which would increase Albania’s cohesion and would make it possible for it to progress with the reforms.
A better internal cohesion gives Albania more chances to be reflected as not only as a factor of stability, but also a factor that promotes democratic developments.
I say this because I have received encouraging messages from the Albanians in Kosovo, Macedonia, Presheva, Montenegro, and because this is time for the Albanian people to see Albania as a country that promotes democratic developments and that push the region forward in the European path”, Bushati declared.
The two secretaries of the UK and the Head of NATO revealed the logo of the summit that will be held after three months in Wales, Great Britain.
