The Socialist Parliament Member, Ben Blushi, did not agree with the
appointing of Ermir Gjinishi as ambassador of Albania in Saudi Arabia.
Gjinishi, until some time ago, was the second person in charge at the
Muslim Community.
Blushi underlined the fact that his declaration in favor of keeping scarves in schools is a rejection of the secular law.
“He has held several stances that have been against the secularity of the Albanian state. My question is if the Foreign Ministry agrees that these people come with these views as employees of our state, and will they damage the mission that they have undertaken? I refuse to say what I think about it”, Blushi declared.
“All my debates have been before 2009, and have been oriented towards the spaces that the secular state creates in exerting the human rights”, Gjinishi declared.
Gjinishi’s candidacy has received attention from the Foreign Commission, in a hearing session with the candidates proposed by the Foreign Ministry for ambassadors. Maybe also due to the specific, since for the first time, a leader of this level from the Muslim Community has been appointed as a diplomatic representative of Albania.
The opposition, represented only by Aldo Bumci for most of the meeting, showed no reserves for the names that were appointed, but declared that career diplomats are being left aside.
Besides Gjinushi, the Foreign Ministry has proposed Pellumb Qazimi as our Ambassador in Slovenia, and Ilir Bocka in Belgrade.
