The Vice Mayor of Tirana, Eno Bozdo, declared that this institution has a
80 million USD debt inherited from the time when Edi Rama was leading
the Municipality.
Bozdo explains that the debts are about unpaid jobs and trials won against the municipality. Bozdo launched accusations against the action undertaken by the government for taking the gambling games under control. He accused left councilors of voting in favor of the casinos.
“Rama must start this action against casinos with a public apology to the Tirana citizens, for not voting at the Municipal Council in favor of the temporary tax on gambling games, which aimed to make them be replaced. The Tirana citizens know that Rama’s councillors not only didn’t vote this initiative, but they also tried to ruin that meeting of the Municipal Council. This fact will cast big shadows of doubt on the seriousness of this initiative, which I hope will not end by closing some casinos just to make some others stronger”, Bozdo declared.
The Head of the Municipal Council and the former head of the left councillor has reacted right after this declaration. He declared that he was against the casinos and that they support the government’s initiative.
“We appeal to the vice mayor to not be misused by individuals and their interests. Our stance has been clear at the Municipal Council. We have been in favor of closing the gambling phenomenon in the Albanian capital. Certainly that it is a social wound and it remains such. Being part of today’s majority as a political force even in the Municipal Council, we support every decision regarding the closing of this phenomenon that has made too many damages on our capital”, Dalipi declared.
Dalipi showed the declaration of the left councillors in the meeting of October 9th, 2012, when the Tirana Municipality proposed to move casinos at the suburbs through higher taxes in the center and lower outside the city.
