Work to rebuild Mother Teresa Square in Tirana started this weekend to be ready on September 21 when Pope Francesku is expected to visit Albania.
In this square is planned to be held the Holy Mass, the Holy Father’s sermon, prayer of the angel to God, as well as the Holy Father’s words which will be forwarded to thousands of people expected to gather on this important day.
At a City Council meeting held in late July was approved the extension of a fund of 3.3 million dollars by the Municipality for the restoration of Mother Teresa Square.
Municipality of Tirana sources say that the intervention begins with the removal of perennial fountain, which for years has played the role of a roundabout, where will be built a water mirror with two fountains on its side.
They will also restore the facade of the building of Polytechnic University and the stairs of the Rectorate.
Besides these facilities, they will also restore the facade of the National Museum, where are already placed scaffolds Saturday morning.
According to sources in Tirana Municipality, work will be carried out during August and the first weeks of September, rapidly, so that everything is ready for the first visit of Pope Francesku in Albania.
