More than 5000 unpaid teachers

The President of the Education Union Federation, Ana Xheka, reported the government’s failure to pay the wage and the transportation fees.

“Almost all replacement teachers in Albania who have been hired temporarily have not been paid for their service. In most of the cases they have not been equipped with the administrative acts that this relation sanctions. Their transportation has not been paid too, even though it has been cheaper this year”, Xheka declared.

Besides the middle school teachers, there are dozens part time professors at the Universities of Durres, Shkoder and Elbasan who have not been paid for the academic year 2011-2012.

“Professors in some public universities have not been paid for their service in the academic year 2011-2012”, Xheka declared.

Union members asked the Ministry of Education to take the necessary measures to pay the professors for their services.
