After jewellery stores, casinos and handbag snatches, pharmacies appear to be the next preferred victims of robbers.

17 pharmacies have been robbed, with 7 of them only in Tirana. The robbers have stolen not only money, but also medicine, which are then sold in the black market and putting the citizens’ lives in danger.

“Medicines are not a normal good that can be bought in the market. The illegal purchase can be led by importers and distributors, then the common people who buy them cheaper. The danger is that these medicine are not kept in good conditions and could put the people’s life in risk”, declared Arjan Jaupllari, President of the Order of Pharmacists.

Jaupllari appealed the citizens to not buy stolen medicines, and also the pharmacists who buy them with a cheaper price, because they could be the next victims. Police authorities say that these have not been treated as ordinary theft.
