The trial against the defendants accused of preparing terrorist attacks
in Montenegro, has just brought to surface more evidence suggesting that
the coup was plotted by Russian circles and part of the pro-Serb
parliamentary opposition in Podgorica.
The Voice of America reports that Alexandar Singjelic, a man who has been part of former Yugoslavian wars, who has also fought alongside pro-Russian forces in Ukraine, has confirmed during a 11-hour-long testimony that he had been recruited by the Russian Secret Service agent, Eduard Shishmakov.
Singjelic declared that Shishmakov gave him 200.000 Euros to recruit people who would gather in front of the Parliament, cause turmoil, enter the building and shoot Montenegrin people, in an effort to overthrow the then Prime Minister Milo Gjukanovic.
The witness stated that part of this operation was also the former Serbian Gendarmerie Chief, Bratislav Dikic.
After the coup had failed, Singjelic said he was living in fear for his life and that Russians had attempted twice to kill him in Belgrade, which forced him to go back to Montenegro.
International security services say that Eduard Shishmakov, accused as the main organizer of these attacks in Montenegro, was Vladimir Putin’s trusted man and used to be part of Russia’s Security Council meetings.
