More divorces in Korce and Tirana

This divorce boom has come as consequence of emigration and difficult economic conditions.

Experts have noted that the main cause is poverty and low education. Some of the couples have also lived separated for a long time, due to emigration and double lives.

More divorces in Tirana

The Court of Tirana has had 515 couples filing for divorce in the 6 first months of 2011.

According to the statistics, none of the cases has closed with reconciliation. This means that none of the couples that have gone to the Court have accepted to withdraw from their decision.

Tirana Court psychologist, Albana Shaholli explains that women’s economic independence has affected the divorce increase, because now they can live without being able to be supported by their husbands.

But the psychologist says that the biggest consequences of divorces are suffered by the children, who witness their parents’ vengeance against each other and the lack of interest for their children.
