Environmental pollution and more toxic chemicals used on food have increased the number of blood cancer patients in Albania.
30 new cases are added each year to those who have been diagnosed with blood cancer. One cause is thought to be the increased amount of pesticides in agriculture. Using uncontrolled pesticides and chemical stimulants for artificial growth of fruits and vegetables, according to specialists, result not only with non nutritive products, but also with dangerous consequences.
According to hematologist Arben Ivanaj, this pathology affects also young people.
Hematologists say that the symptom of blood cancer patients is fatigue, when this illness is at its first steps.
Oncologists and hematologists have discussed on the ways of treating these patients, who, if treated on time, could live 20 years more.
Doctors are discussing about other medicaments that should be included in reimbursement schemes.
